Yassıada 'Democracy and Freedom Island'
Yassiada, one of the Princes’ Islands located in the Sea of Marmara to the southeast of Istanbul, is notorious for jails and trials from the 1960 military coup. The island was renamed to “Democracy and Freedom Island” in 2013 as part of a rebranding strategy to attract more tourists interested in culture and history.
Now, the project includes a 125-room hotel, with nearly 30 concrete bungalows, a conference hall with a capacity to host 600 people, a mosque for 1,200 people, a museum, cafes and restaurants..
For this project, INOX-NET offered a special design solution for a safety balustrade that removes borders and provides an incredible view of the Marmara Sea. In cooperation with the project architects, it was decided to use I-NET® cable mesh for the balustrade infills.
INOX-NET has undertaken consultancy, design, production and installation works of the balustrades consisting of the stainless steel handrail, stainless steel I-ROPE® tension rope systems, and stainless steel I-NET® cable net.
The balustrades, whose transparent appearance gives you the feeling of being one with the sea, have been infilled with high-quality stainless steel I-NET® in a total of 600 meters long with a net width of 60x104 mm.
