Ilirija Sports Center
The Ilirija Sports Center in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is set to become a premier European hub for sports, particularly swimming competitions at both national and international levels. The complex is scheduled to open to visitors and athletes by 2025.
A defining aspect of this project is its seamless integration of cutting-edge materials, enhancing both the architectural aesthetics and functionality of the space. Among its standout features is the application of I-NET® stainless steel mesh railing systems, meticulously chosen to align with the project’s design ethos.
The center incorporates 530m² of premium stainless steel cable mesh supplied by inoxnet®, integrated into its interior design—most notably in balustrades and custom-shaped staircases. Manufactured with 3mm ropes and 80x139mm diamond openings, the inoxnet® net introduces a sleek, modern aesthetic that enhances openness while optimizing visibility and airflow, particularly around the swimming pool area.
This unique combination of functionality, durability, and visual lightness has transformed Ilirija Sport City into a modern urban oasis, reinforcing its architectural narrative of blending historical heritage with contemporary design.
